End of S3 (spoiler)

I just finished watching S3 & the very end of the season provides what was led up to for some time -- a kiss between the two. They secretly get married the next season. The kiss was pretty anti-climatic given all the build-up.

There is a throwaway bit though in another episode, near the end of the season, that is sweet -- her mom (played by an actress who was in an early cop show decades before) telling her how her little girl is all grown up.

It is particularly notable since they sneak it in during the usual "at home" scene they have in the early part of many episodes. This scene is about as standard as a late episode padding chase scene near the end.

As a whole, S3 had a good run of episodes, including a good one that Kate Jackson directed (she also directed one in S4). At times, it seems like Francine doesn't have enough playing time, but a few familiar faces (again) do pop up.

That's Beverly Garland from the 50's TV series "Decoy" playing Amanda's mother Dotty.

Things are much better in S4 on this front. In fact, S4 (and the series) ends with a simple kiss (they are now married), and it was nicer than this one.

It's interesting that you say that the kiss at the end of Season 3 is anti-climatic. It never seemed so to me, but I know others share your opinion. Do you ever read fan fiction? If so, I know of an author who shared your view and wrote a new version of their first kiss, as a "fix-it" for the anti-climatic problem. I'll hold off giving a link until you say whether you're interested or not. :)
