anyone got the uncut version?

Anyone got a copy of this little gem? not seen it since the late 80's and loved Brad's portrayal of Sonny Butts, he was such a cutie. Keith Carradine gave a powerful performance too, gave me nightmares for ages when I was 9!

I wish. There's no DVD release here in the U.S. The VHS that was released was cut down to 200 minutes. And I hear much of what was cut was from the Brad Davis episode. Best I can tell the original should be at least 280 minutes long...maybe more. I have heard that a 4-disc set was released in Germany (I think), but the picture and sound quality are awful.

Frankly, somebody needs to release it in a worthy box-set, just like ROOTS, THE WINDS OF WAR, LONESOME DOVE, SHOGUN and others that you see on the market. Digitally remaster it, whatever needs to be done.

Who knows? Maybe they're waiting for the 30th anniversary edition.

LadyU, I checked out that www.ioffer.com and someone was selling CHIEFS in a 3 disc 4 and a half hour set. That's about as complete as we're going to find. It probably won't be the greatest quality but I'm going to give it a try.

Well, the picture quality is okay at best. The audio leaves a lot to be desired. The dialog is muffled and, frankly hard to discern at times...especially the 2nd installment.

It is the complete version as I remember it and I'm glad I've got it. But it still leaves me wishing and hoping that it gets a proper DVD release one day.
