How many people have read the book?

Just wondering if anyone has read the book that this was based on. If you haven't I would recommend it, it was really good.

It's definitely one of my "desert island" books. As good as the miniseries is, it's better after you've read the book. Stuart Woods himself has admitted he's never topped it (his 1st novel), and probably never will.

IMHO, the endless stream of Stone Barrington and Holly Barker books is getting tiresome. "Under the Lake", involving Chiefs character John Howell (the NY Times reporter who helped Chief Watts) is very good, but I wish he'd consider revisiting Delano with a new plot set in the 70's, involving Tucker/Tyler Watts and including a gruesome, ironic demise for Skeeter Willis. If only...

I absolutely loved this book. It is like none other (and I know that has been said) that Woods has ever written. It took me about 75 pages to get hooked, but once I was, couldn't put it down. It was a great beginning to understand Will Lee (another character of Woods')'s heritage. Definitely read it.

I just got done reading Chiefs and have not yet seen the movie, in fact I didn't even know there was a movie about it until today.
I got hooked on Stuart Woods' books a few months ago and am now collecting and reading them all as soon as they come (isn't Ebay and Amazon wonderful). I would love to see him let more of his books get turned into movies.

It's all about the music...and nothing but!!!

I just finished it too, and wish I had looked at this movie's IMDb page. My brain cast the story somewhat differently, but Keith Carradine as Foxy Funderburke is an inspired choice!

I've completely destroyed one copy and am working on the second! All Stuart Woods books are great!

I loved this book. The town reminded me so much of the small Southern town I grew up in. I have read other Stuart Woods books, and I have to say that I was disappointed in them. Chiefs by far is the best of his work. The mini series was also well done and the casting was perfect.

I couldn't agree more--the book was superb and the miniseries was very well done, with splendid casting.

It's so great to see that there are still people reading out there! I've read Chiefs 3 times & am considering a 4th as soon as I finish the Baldacci I'm reading now!

It's such a shame that they won't come out with a "real" DVD so that we can enjoy the film, too!

Sorry to go OT but where is Mr Woods cameo in what scene in Chiefs?

He's "Pope", the white-haired FBI guy who finally agrees to the restricted search warrant, after Tyler ('Tucker' in the book) Watts and John Howell present their evidence.

I see thanks, BTW the actor who leads the search was also in FIRESTARTER also as a fed but evil.

I am reading it now. I saw the miniseries back in the 80s and loved it. the Book of course is even better. I have about 50 pages left and I am enjoying reliving the story through a book. Now I just wish the DVD was available on region 1 dvd. come on- release it! They finally released Backstairs at the whitehouse, my favorite miniseries of alltime. They should release this one too.

I know it's probably been a while since dreuxcut finished the book but how did you like it? It left me with a complete feeling of satisfaction each time I finished it.
