'Zapped! sweeps Oscars' -The Onion: Our Dumb Century

When I first flipped through The Onion: Our Dumb Century, I saw this headline and a picture of Scott Baio holding up two oscars, and I almost died laughing. I have never seen this movie, I assume it is pretty lame (correct me if I am wrong), but the very thought of a movie so ridiculous as this sweeping some of Film's most "prestigious" awards is hilarious. But, at the same time, it might even be a cutting statement by the writers of how silly the oscars have become ("and the award goes to...Titanic"--<shudder>). Just thinking about this headline still makes me laugh every so often--THE TITLE HAS A FREAKING EXCLAMATION POINT! Is this where the Academy Awards are headed? Giving the award for best picture to a movie that ends with an exclamation point?
-Mr. Calimari

PS- I, of course, mean no offense toward the hard-working producers and makers of the film version of the musical Oliver!, which won Best Picture at the 1969 ceremony.

If ever a film disearved an Oscar it's Zapped! with Scott Baio... and that other guy from Charles In Charge.

The Onion is a fake newspaper. Zapped! did not win an Oscar.

Are you sure The Onion is a fake newspaper? I was sure Nancy Regan ended the nations drug problem on Diff'rent Strokes...

The Onion is real... they found out Zach Morris from Saved by the Bell was addicted to late night net surfing. And Nancy Reagan really did stop the drug problem on Diff'rent Strokes, or did she cause it? Even the old man on that show was shooting smack. Todd Bridges was the conservative of the cast, he only smoked crack on weekends and refused to take any pills on an empty stomach.
