Can someone help me settle an argument?
Someone I know (ok, my wife) insists this event was in the novel as well, which I can't seem to locate in the edition I've just read.
Can anyone enlighten me?

i do not remember a plane in the book but i would not bet on anything

John Irving is one of my favorite authors, and I have read GARP several times, and I can Assure you, the plane scene is not in the book. IT's a great addition to the movie, and would have been just great in the book. "It's Pre-Diastered!! We'll be safe here!!"
