But, I love her in this movie. She makes want to know more about Jenny. I never thought I would call her a great actress but wow...



And after seeing her in movies from the late 80's I thought I'd never say she was hot since I found her face to be distractingly ugly, but after seeing this I realised she wasn't ugly all her life. And she was quite hot, especially since she didn't age at all.

Way to go, totally disregard any discussion about talent and skill and make it all about her "hotness". Sorry, but I find your comment distractingly ugly.

you should read the book, there's a significant amount of character development for jenny that's cut out of the movie.

Not so sure about Glenn Close being cast as Garp's mother. I do love her acting work. Having read the book, the character was better developed, however what blocked it for me was that at the time the movie was made, Glenn was 35 and Robin Williams was 31... a 4 year difference in age that was far too obvious, which for me made her miscast in the role, despite her excellent acting.

Regardless, this movie remains one of my all time favourite films and enjoy it every time I view it. It is also a reasonably good screenplay adaption of John Irving's novel, although I haven't read that for years now.

Meryl Streep can't do everything and play everyone (even if SNL is now doing a sketch where she ice skates).

I agree - Glenn Close was PERFECTLY CAST in this film. She was most honest in this role - (can I say that?)

i completely agree. I have always disliked her in films and even found her a bit scary. But i just watched this film for the first time yesterday and i loved her in it, and even thought she was quite atractive!

I haven't seen this since it's regular rotation on HBO, Showtime, Movie Channel & Cinemax (just the four back in the 80's). Back then she looked like an "old" woman to me. Freaked me out how sexy (& CRAZY) she was in Fatal Attraction. I "used" those images a few times.
