Wasn't Jenny being a bit hypocritical?

She seemed to condemn men for having lust, but apparently applauded the hooker for plying her trade, which profited off of mens' lust. At least, Jenny seemed awfully nonchalant about her son satisfying his own lust with a hooker, while mom paid for it.

This is (I feel) actually explained a little better in the book. In the movie, she was upset to find that it was illegal. In the BOOK, however, she was upset to learn that it was illegal in America (in the book, they went to Vienna, not New York)

In Jenny's mind, Men made the rules. Men have lust, but made prostitution illegal, therefore denying a woman her right to do as she pleases with her own body.

Have you read the book? If not, I highly recommend it.

ALL feminists are hypocritical.

Doctrinaire statements tend to be overgeneralizations based on simplistic conceptions, gross ignorance of what is actually going on in the world, and a hostility to those from different groups or those who hold differing opinions (the "other").

Very well said.

Yes, she was being super hypocritical.

She recognized lust was a fact of life, one that she didn't particularly care for but couldn't change. Even if she doesn't understand lust, she can still acknowledge what someone does with their own body is their business. She certainly didn't care about a moral codes when she raped a dying man and had a baby out of wedlock.
