Is it a crime for a woman to pretend shes a man impersonating a woman? Did I say that correctly.

IANAL, but as I understand it fraud is inducing a person to do business by telling a lie. A commercial performance would seem to meet that definition.

That's a question only someone familiar with the laws of Paris and France in that era could tell us. Fraud is a legal term, and laws are specific to time and place.
