I missed the memo. Did not take acid before viewing Tron.

Sure this film was very visually inspired, and the inspiration from Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and even Spartacus are clear; but I was unimpressed by this film. I didn't find it engaging, and the found the animated effects way to hokey to keep me engaged.
I actually found myself just wanting the film to end about an hour in.
I generously gave this film a 5/10, because it was original with the religious themes of users and programs, as well as the execution, but as original as it may be, it is not an engaging fantasy.

That's a nice opinion.

While I respect what your saying, Tron is a case of love and hate. You either get it or you dont. Everyone I have ever met who has seen it is very loving of it or violently turned off by it (just kidding on the violent part!)

But that would be funny though: someone so mad when they see it on the shelf in the store and just go nuts and rip the tapes off the shelf and smash the whole display all the while screaming and yelling obscenities at the Tron film. Quite disturbing!

That's funny. I found nothing engaging about 2001 A Space Odyssey. And the only way i can watch is with Acid.

No, you're right, Dr Dave. It was a darned clever conception for a time when arcade machines were things of wonder and a Commodore-64 could change the way you saw the world, but even back then it didn't have a great story and it never reached the status of an engaging, classic fantasy.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

That's because you obviously were not around when it originally came out to appreciate it.

The film was no inspired by 2001 Space Odyssey, and not Star Wars. At best Star Wars showed that a popular sci-fi film could make money, but they are opposites in terms of style.

You missed all the dialogue about existence and why we're here. The movie was about how a virtual reality might alter our perspective on ourselves.

Apparently you missed that.

You might do yourself a favor and go to People's Park and pop a few acid pills.
