is not the main character? I can think of one example: in all versions of "The Three Musketeers", the main character, D'Artagnan, is not one of the titular Musketeers.

"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" is the car (and a main character) but Dick Van Dyke is the star.
"Tarzan the Ape Man" w Bo Derek. Although "movie" might be stretching it since there wasn't much plot beyond just looking at Bo. ;-)
Speaking of Bo Derek, "10" explains what Bo is, but is clearly Dudley Moore's movie.
"Waking Ned Devine" is about a dead guy but he's not the main character(s), as is "Weekend at Bernie's".
The original "The Terminator" could fit in here since Linda Hamilton was the lead target and AH-nold was in-chase the entire movie, although we all know who's movie it really was.
Same goes with the original "The Godfather", since I always thought it was Al Pacino's movie (and series) and not Brando - even though Brando was the title character, but that's just me.
