Do you think he was a waiter for the rest of his life after that, or did it help him find more work? In 1982, I can see this jeopardizing future employment as an actor.

Today it would be a sensation on all the tabloid shows and YouTube. He would be a guest on all the "legit" news programs. A book and a reality show deal, or more magazine covers. He definitely would be rewarded for bad behavior for pulling such a stunt in 2016.

At the last scene of the movie, Julie said something about his stunt proved to be a hit and asked what he was going to do next. So I guess it was successful for the show and that's why he didn't get sued.
