"Nothing human could have made it back here without a guideline"


This line always bothered me. Mac's shack was so close the main building, it really shouldn't be hard to get back, even during a snowstorm.

Believe it or not but in a snow storm on the North pole you can get lost within literally 10 feet. I imagine it is not much different on Antarctica.

They were just trying to justify the decision they'd already made, that they were going to fry Mac to avoid even the risk that he'd been thinged

It was Mac's shack after all. If anybody was going to navigate the path to the main compound on sense memory alone, it would be him.
