man, Ricardo was great in this movie
Esp considering he was so identified as Mr Roarke from Fantasy Island when this came out. He was the perfect villian for this film.

shareHe was menacing in Space Seed. But also making him a bit unhinged ups the character as an adversary.
"Lovey-dovey. Bonk bonk on the head!"
Ricardo was indeed wonderful in this film! During an interview he said he struggled a bit to suppress the "Mr. Roarke" persona during filming.
shareHe was immense. Colossal. Gigantic. Terrific. Gargantuan.
The guy should have many more great roles like this, and better.
Glasgow's FOREMOST authority Italics = irony. Infer the opposite please.
Moreover, he was extremely charismatic. I thought that Benedict Cumberbatch's take on Khan was way too one-dimensional. Yeah, we get it: he's a bad dude.

Yeah, we get it: he's a bad dude.Well, he was way more charismatic in the Space Seed episode than in the movie. I also gotta say I really don't like the reboot. I like the actors and think they do a fine job but the schlock fest is unbecoming of the Star Trek name. I agree on Cumberbatch although I think he is an excellent actor but they just had to make him evil beyond evil because that's all we dumb audience understand. Either you're REALLY good or you're REALLY bad, no in betweens. You know, just like in real life. 
1701% agreed! Well said. Still the best trek villain ever.
shareWatching some of the special features on the BluRay it's clear that director Nicholas Meyer really had a lot of admiration and a great affinity for Montalban.
