Alternate Happy Ending?

Found these two very odd commercials from Japan -

The first one is interesting because it features a sequence not in the actual film. Now, of course it's possible that this sequence was exclusively animated years later to advertise potato cream soup (my mind boggles at the free association going on here - I guess the Snowman looks like a flying potato?) but the other possibility is that this was intended as a happy ending to the film. Perhaps it was created for certain territories that prefer happy endings to children's films but was ultimately never used. And then it was dug up to advertise soup? I laugh as I type that, but still, it's possible.

These were interesting to watch, especially the first one.

Re a happy ending for "The Snowman": The movie, "Father Christmas", has a scene with the little boy and his snowman already waiting for Santa at the snowmen's Christmas party. Father Christmas says to the boy, "Glad to see that you could make it again. The party, I mean, not your snowman." I always interpreted this to mean that the boy made the snowman again the following Christmas, and the snowman came to life again for him.
