The reason I like this movie

Despite the ending and various other scenes, this movie imulates my life growing up. My Parent's split up very much this same way. My Dad had a mistress named Sandy. My Mom went through the same type of ordeal during the seperation. It means alot to me in that way. It is also a very well acted and well scripted movie. I enjoy it.

I liked it because the script had no exposition in the dialogue, and very elliptical in action. As much of what occurs between the two people, why they don’t get along, occurs when they aren’t together. Brilliant.

Although watching it caused my neighbors to check up on me, they rang the doorbell, and were like: “We always hear laughter and piano and all kinds of joy from your house, at all hours, tonight: plates breaking and screaming! What is going on!?”
They did a good job for the sound of the film.
That’s clear. Ha!

I have a similar connection. The Albert Finney character is very much like my father and the way he behaved when my parents got divorced. As a teenager, I watched this film every time it was on cable and whenever I hear that song by The Eagles, I feel deep sadness recalling how tragic this film was and my own personal attachment to it.

Also, this film reminds me why I love Diane Keaton. With her career choices these last few decades, however, it's sometimes hard to remember.
