Mrs. Brisby, Jeremy, and Dragon

A scene in this movie always made me wonder, why was Jeremy not a little more helpful to Mrs. Brisby when they are being chased by Dragon? Mrs. Brisby chews through the string, freeing Jeremy, and he just flies off and ditches her. While she's being chased, he does come back a minute or two later and tells her to grab the string. Then he pulls her up into a tree. Dragon climbs the tree and continues to persue her. Then Jeremy just ditches her again! He doesn't come back until after she finally escapes Dragon on her own. When she first frees him from the string, he could have let her jump on his back and fly her away. (Remember, she doesn't tell him she's afraid of heights until later). Did he not think of this because he was freaking out over Dragon and just couldn't think straight? That's my guess. At least he made up for this by finding Timmy's medicine and giving it back to her.

Yeah, that's definitely true. Maybe the characters don't do what's expected to make the escape scene more exciting.
