Mrs. Brisby's Kids = Bunny Kids from Disney's 'Robin Hood'

I just got through watching Disney's Robin Hood (on which Don Bluth was an animator) and I noticed he pretty much recycled his bunnies from that film as Mrs. Brisby's kids.

See this segment on YouTube: http://bit.ly/GP2CR.

I suppose other people have noticed it (the resemblance isn't subtle), but I haven't been able to find a reference to it anywhere else. As far as I know I'm the first to pick up on it, but I know better. There must be other stuff around that mentions it. I just haven't found it yet.

Has anybody else noticed this?

Yup, they sure do look so like the kids from Robin Hood.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who noticed! Not just the kids, either. Justin resembles Robin Hood a great deal in facial expressions and movement, and Jenner looks v. v. much like the Sheriff. The general use of color and character anthromorphism, even the costumes, all resemble Disney enough that, if it were now, I wouldn't doubt a lawsuit.

I love this movie, but it lifts so much animation from Disney--not surprising since they were "Disney's Defectors."

How is it lifting animation from Disney if Don Bluth was an animator on both films? Was he supposed to change his style when he left Disney?

I think that there's a difference between similar style and uncanny reproduction. Look, I'm not condemning Bluth or NIMH, because I adore the film. But style (to me) insinuates continuous application of certain aspects to promote an overall impression, not the repetitive use of the same faces, anatomy, color palette, clothing, etc.

I know you're not condemning anything, and I didn't mean to imply that you were.

I just don't see it. Sure, the girls both have big bows/ribbons, and each group seem to be the same ages, but other than that I don't see anything beyond a similar style. Even with Justin/Robin and Jenner/Sherrif. Certainly not enough to warrant a lawsuit. But that's just me.

I'll add to the list of similarities that when Jeremy was wearing a blue garment over his head it reminded me of Robin Hood in disguise at the archery tournament. Was he disguised as a stork? It's been a while since I've watched it.

I was thinking the same thing.
