Chairs stacked on top of the table...

Did anyone else think this was one of the creepiest parts of the film???

reply

Yes that and the clown scene. The chair stack scene is pretty impressive how it was all done in one shot with the crew replacing them. I can't imagine trying to do that!

reply

Plus, the music that accompanied that scene was pretty creepy too!!

reply

Totally agree! The Film Score for Poltergeist by Jerry Goldsmith is one of the best film scores in a horror movie ever, in my opinion.

reply

Very true. Especially when Mr. Teague told Steven that they built Cuesta Verde over the cemetery then it showed the neighborhood down below. The music was brilliant.

reply

Yes. I love that scene/music. Also, love the music in the scene where everything is starting to go crazy, & she’s running down the long hallway. Honestly the music score from when she’s locked out of her room (creepy lion ghost thing) until she falls in the swimming pool is just amazing.

reply

And I have to say the main theme “Carol Ann theme” is so beautiful and so so sad at the same time. Brilliant.

reply

Yes, the score was brilliant and amazing. I'm sad that it didn't win Best Score at the Oscars...

reply

Yep, it was nominated for Best Score at the Oscars. It sadly didn't win though...

reply

That’s awesome! Glad to know that. Thanks

reply

I wonder what movie won for Musical score that year....

reply

Looks like the score for the movie “Chariots of Fire”

reply

Wow, that makes sense. The score for that movie was incredible.

reply

Whoops, I messed up. E.T. won for best film score when Poltergeist was nominated. Chariots was the year before.

reply

No worries! Thanks for looking that up. :)

reply

You're welcome. I don't know if you have Netflix but, this movie is currently on Netflix. :)

reply

Thanks! I do & im looking for it now. You should check out the film score on iTunes.

reply

Will do definitely!!!

I bet that scene was loud to film! I'd love to watch and hear the original rough footage, if they even bothered to grab the audio in the first place.

reply

I would have bolted out of that house at that very minute. I am mystified at the stupidity of the parents in this story.

reply

I agree with you. I would have ran out of that house so fast and check into a hotel for the night.

reply

Yes, if the mother had grabbed her kid and bolted out of the house at that minute, then Carol Anne would never have been taken in the first place!

reply

That's a really good point, I completely agree with you. Instead, she wanted to investigate the house which caused all the trouble in the first place....

reply

Great scene.

reply

I agree. That was one of the best (and creepiest) scenes in the movie.

reply

The scene with the chairs was very creepy to me as a kid. If I let myself think too much about it, the idea creeps me out still.

The tree thing was also another scary scene.

Isn't there another ghost movie where a woman finds all the kitchen drawers and cupboards are suddenly open? Or is it this film?

reply

I know in the Sixth Sense movie, Cole's mother saw all the cardboards opened in her kitchen. Maybe you are referring to that film???

reply

I think you're right! I think her reaction to it was what stays in my mind the most. I haven't seen that movie since at the cinema! Too spooky, hehe!
