DVD
Hurry up and release this on DVD!
shareHi, Has it been released on DVD or is it available otherwise, please. I'm new at this and am appreciative of information.
BP
It is available on DVD - but very rare! I would dearly love a copy - does anyone have one?

It hasn't been released on DVD yet officially. I've never understood the logic of not releasing films such as this on DVD when so much rubbish is released

This was released on vhs i beleive, and was also subsequently deleted a while back :(
Ive been trying for ages to get a copy of this (in any format) but have had no luck :( (other than on a CED which is next to useless :( )
Now channel four have their own dvd label they might get their finger out and start releasing their films....their films are among some of the best in the world...
Ive just emailed them about the other nights showing with the sign person. It may sound selfish but the signer person was HUGE and very distracting
Have you got the email address? So we can all email and complain and ask for the release on DVD. Can't seem to find their email address on their website.

shareAre you able to make a copy of this on dvd and post to me? What would be the cost?
Thanks
A DVD would appear to have been released in the Netherlands on 22 0ctober 2002

Now deleted, this must be the rare one mentioned earlier; however I now have a *HD
recording of the film from Film4 yesterday.
*Hard Disk, not Hi-Def!

Any chance you would be able to forward on a copy? It's my husband's favourite film and he didn't realise it was on - really gutted. He hasn't seen it since he was a kid and doesn't stop talking about it - I'm sure it can't be as good as he makes out!
Cheers.
Helen
It's a shame that a classic British film which was previously available on VHS gets a DVD release in the Netherlands but not over here in the U.K. The same goes for Melody, another David Puttnam produced film of a similiar theme. The UK VHS videos were deleted a long time ago, although it is available on DVD in Japan! Clearly, there is a demand for films such as these.
At least P'tang Yang Kipperbang got a screening on Channel 4 and Film Four, although not for a very long time. Melody hasn't been seen on TV since 1987.
Ideally, I would like to see P'tang Yang Kipperbang released officially on DVD in PAL format in the U.K. by next year as this was originally broadcast as part of the First Love anthology when Channel 4 began transmission, nearly a quarter of a century ago.
Update 18/12/06: I contacted Channel 4 in regards to a British DVD release and was told that I would have to contact the distributors, Lumiere and Thorn EMI (now owned by Studio Canal which might explain the Continental DVD release).
Nevertheless, I managed to buy a PAL VHS video of P'tang Yang Kipperbang on ebay for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, most of the DVDs on the net are either poor copies or have a different format or are selling at ridiculous prices (eBay, Amazon et al). Fortunately, I have a TV VHS/DVD combi, although not digital. Word of advice to anyone who is looking for long forgotten TV programmes or films - do not dispose of your VHS video recorder!
If you have a multi-regional DVD player, you can purchase a NSTC DVD from this site. http://shop.dreamcricket.com/dreamcricket/pavilion/shopexd.asp?id=308&cid=11&tname=Cricket%20Movies&tid=43

Yeah, but my copy is better than yours, NYAAH!
I clicked on the link you provided in your previous message and:-
a) the webpage clearly states that their DVD is copied from VHS (legit tape, granted - but still a video cassette);
b) they're wrong, as "P'tang Yang Kipperbang" was released in the Netherlands on 22 0ctober 2002 by Indies
Home Entertainment B.V. http://www.video.nl/get_titel.asp?id=22225. Oh, but it wasn't in the USA -diddums!
c) Luckily I had my Norton Internet Security on, cos it tried to download a recognised trojan!

Mine's off digital telly, HQ record setting straight to my HDD, chaptered, adverts edited out (like they weren't
there!) and I even did a chapter menu with nice pink heart-shaped buttons! You didn't see my Private Message
to you?
p.s. Do a virus scan of your computer...

I bought Kipperbang from Dreamcricket. I fully understood it was ripped from videotape - but the DVD I got was blank. They sent me a second one and that too showed no data on it. I wouldn't bother with Dreamcricket to get this movie - I have no idea what they're trying to do.
I know what I'm talking about too - I tried both discs in each of my DVD players and on my computer. Both showed up as a blank and burnable DVD - a huge disappointment.
