What car is Billy Blaze Driving?

I have always wanted to know what make and model car that is .I think it is a Cadillac but I am not sure. Thanks in advance if you can help me out.

reply

Yes, it is without doubt a early to mid sixties model Cadillac when they still had the tail fins! A hearse which Billy Blazejowski uses his genius to convert to a prom limousine. Fantastic Idea!! {:-O

reply

No I meant his car the one with the pheonix on the hood .

reply

I thought it was a Monte carlo?
But I have not seen this movie for quite some time.

That's it exactly. I've been wondering that for years myself. Thanks notop67.

considering when the movie was made and that i believe it was a four door car he was driving, i'd guess it's an 81 stutz

reply

Its a rare Stutz Blackhawk sedan

I thought that bird was the Firedbird or thunderbird symbol. Meh.

Pimped out Stutz Blackhawk...isn't that a bit redundant? : P

Hello,

That's amazing that Studebaker (chek speling) was still making cars in, what looks like, the early '60s.
I like the stereo, too.

reply

Stutz, not studebaker.
The car in this film was a Stutz based on a modified pontiac I think

reply

Stutz indeed. Designed by Virgil Exner, who designed what was going to be a revived Duesenburg a bit earlier. (He also made a revival Bugatti way before the Veyron!) I think the Stutz did have Pontiac engine/chassis, but was seriously heavy. No-holds-barred ostentation, not surprisingly a favorite car of Elvis. The screaming-chicken decals on Keaton's car gave me a good laugh.

Studebaker was in fact making cars into the 1960s - mostly practical economy models, but also the cool Hawk GT and seriously cool Avanti.

According to the Stutz Blackhawk entry on Wikipedia...

Fictional owners

Bill "Blaze" Blazejowski (played by Michael Keaton) in the movie Night Shift appears not to
drive a Blackhawk but a 1981 Stutz IV-Porte sedan.
