Hiya, I was watching this on mute last night because my boyfriend was asleep. Can anyone tell me why that woman had to saw her own foot off please? Why didn't one of the other team just go out and help her if she was trapped?? Thanks!
shareI was dropping off to sleep myself, so I didn't really get it either. They knew the bad guy was coming and the trapped woman was running out of air or something, so she thought cutting her foot off was the quickest escape.
But she could've just sawn through the stuff that was trapping her foot, rather than the foot itself.. :-/

I’ve just been watching a recording of it, and I can tell you with complete authority that she was trapped by a truly horrific plot device – one that was so bad she would rather die than to continue appearing in the film.
shareThe outside airlock door was open so they can't open the inside airlock door. Why the airlock system don't have doors that you can open and close from the main control room is beyond me. It was definitely a poorley designed airlock.

Basically, since the whole complex was in a cave system, one can believe that fully automatic doors might be a bit of a problem, especially since they used that train/baggage cart thing, which was on the long side, so they had to have a lage airlock.
The whole "foot cutting off part" was because her suit was malfunctioning. Hence why she took off her mask and used the air tube itself to breath, prolly not actually possible, but oh well. So basically, with the airlock jammed, she had her choices of deaths, run out of air waiting, freeze to death, or freezing to death while possibly freeing herself enough to get the airlock closed or something. I'm choosing to ignore the fact that she could have just fixed her suit if she didn't have that panic attack thing.
I have to say, I would probably saw my own foot off if it meant I could escape having to watch this rubbish again.
