one very poignant scene...
One of my favorite scenes is when Fitzcarraldo is at the social party to convince the tycoons to invest in his opera house, and he brings out the phonograph. As he listens to the music, obviously moved, and everyone just stares at him... I thought it was profoundly sad and touching. The acting of Kinski is particularly great here. I was reminded a little bit of the scene at the end of "The Blue Angel", which has a similar uncomfortable but moving quality to it.
Also, on an unrelated note, is Molly (Claudia Cardinale) not the most ideal partner? I love how inspiring their relationship is to each other.
