Why didn't Rambo just tell Teasle he was visiting a friend?

When they first meet, Teasle asks Rambo what he's doing in that town, but Rambo just says something like "nothin' or "I dunno"
Why was Rambo's friend a secret? Why didn't Rambo want to talk about it?
I know the real answer is, "because then, we wouldn't have a movie?"
.....but what's the movie's answer to this?

Lying to a police officer is a crime

Rambo would be used to getting pushed around and hassled and probably wants to give as little information as possible as whatever he says may be used against him in some way. He really can't win with Teasle and he knows it.

reply

Because it was none of Tiesel's f*^king business. Tiesel can kiss Rambo's ass!

I've always said that if Rambo and Teasle were somehow both given a magical do-over for that first meeting, they *both* would have handled that first interaction quite differently.

I'll give an explanation from the novel.
Rambo in the novel: I don't have to explain myself to him or anyone else! After what I've been through I have a right without explanation!

Nice. Thank you. It all makes sense now. I remember hearing about Sly taking out most of his character's dialog even before i had ever seen the first movie. (i was really late to the party. Most likely because of people's negative reviews of parts 2 and 3)

2 was akin to a cannon Films movie.

I haven't seen 3 since I was really young. It bored me to death. So, I never watched it again. I should probably watch it again to see if there is anything redeeming about it. Maybe it was a decent film, but I was just having a bad day.

4 was really good.

5 was not a terrible action movie, but it did not feel like a Rambo movie.

The franchise should have ended with part 4.

reply

I’m sure there’s people who think it should have ended with part 1. The one where Rambo takes those Christians on a boat ride ride to save the savages was not terrible.

reply

Meh. I prefer the first 3. The 4th one had that scene that went on too long where Rambo takes out several people with a giant machine gun. Plus I felt the ending was bullcrap. It's pretty well implied he had no family to be with through out the entire series and yet here he is at the end of the 4th one going back to the house of his parents!? Why did he never bother going to see his parents at the end of any of the other movies? It's just so bullcrap! Never bothered seeing the 5th one.
