I could've sworn that the Hall and Oates song: "You make my dreams come true" was in this movie. I remember the scene had Stacy standing by a city street and she got picked up by a man driving a sports car.

I thought maybe I had this movie confused with a similar 1980's movie. I searched the song and couldn't find it listed in the soundtrack of any 1980's movies. The oldest movie was The Wedding singer though it's set in the 1980's it came out in 1998 and that's way too late.

The scenes are similar but Browne's song is played near the beginning and I remember the Hall and Oates song was played more towards the end of the movie. I'm certain of the song but it must be in another similar movie.

That's not the Mandela effect.

It's more like the Berenstain Bears effect.

The Mandela effect is remembering something happened at a different time, that Mandela died in the 1980s, when in fact he died in 2013.

The Berenstain Bears effect is that you remember something a certain way for a long time, like the Berenstein Bears, then find out it's actually different, Berenstain.

Although, both are related to the theory that there's an alternate universe that explains it.

Mandela Effect is not restricted to time. If the consensus agreed with OP's statement, it'd qualify for the specious "Mandela Effect" label.

The Berenstain Bears thing was definitely an example of the Mandela Effect. Nothing more than "false memory" and only exciting when enough people agree.
