Poirot the swimmer

Aw, man! You just gotta love the scene where poirot is coming down the stairs, takes off his bathrobe, revealing a neat bathingsuit with the intials HP on the chest, and the steps up to the edge prepearing to dive into the water. After pushing Arlenas boat in the water he just walks around in the knee-deep water making swimming motions with his hands :P

And later:
Mr. Marshal: Were You swimming?
Poirot: What, you saw me??
Mr. Marshal: No..
Poirot: Yes, yes! I was swimming

The scene is brilliant thanks to Ustinovs acting skills. The body languange is fantastic.

Who's with me?

my father loves that scene (he would probably act like poirot, given the chance). it's not my favourite. maggie smith is very good and so is diana rigg. hell, i love the movie. and sylvia miles is terrific in her own way.

There's a blooper in that scene too. When Poirot takes off his dessing gown he drapes it over the right hand side of the deck chair, but a second later as he walks down to the water it's across the left side.

I just watched the movie again and yes, I looove the scene and the dialogue afterwards! It's hilarious!

Did you notice also that when he gets out of the water he pokes his finger in his ear and wiggles his head around a bit as if he's got water in his ears but of course his head has been nowhere near the water!

reply

Wow! Talk about a bump! :-)

reply

Well I just watched the film for the first time :-)
