Nicholas Clay

Nicholas Clay (Patrick Redfern/Felix Ruber) has got to be one of the best looking actors who ever lived. Sadly, Clay died of cancer in May, 2000. what a tragic loss. Check this guy's other work out and see if you agree.

The scene where he walks on the dock in the buns-baring swimsuit was incredible in itself :)

reply

I know. Watch on dvd in zoom mode. Hubba Hubba.

I take it this is about the 1930's so that must have been what was considered a european bikini at the time

reply

You should watch Lady Chatterly's Lover. It was filmed around the same time as Evil Under the Sun, and it stars Nicholas Clay . . . sans the bikini.

reply

Ummmm...have a Nicholas pic for you..if you can send me a private message I'll figure a way to forward it or give you an email.

reply

Very intriguing. Could you describe the nature of the pic???

reply

Just a collage of screen shots..some you told me about and others...

reply

Anything I couldn't otherwise see by renting his movies? If not, I can't say that I'm much interested.

Seeing Nicholas Clay in this made me gay. Well, not really, of course. But it was the first time I felt a stirring in my seven year old heart. And no wonder! He was really something--and I'm always a sucker for a handsome, misunderstood villain with a dangerous streak.

reply

I am not sure that he was so misunderstood....except in that odd quirk most people have in being unable to comprehend that good-looking people can be evil too.....Just because he is pleasing to look at, does not make him pure of heart, and therefore misunderstood. They character was a lout, a criminal, nothing to understand 'bout that!
I will agree he is a handsome man, but I prefer Rigg and Birkin.

reply

Glad to see I'm not the only gay guy to fall in lust with Clay:) Check out "Excalibur"--he has nude love scenes in that one.

I love so many things about the movie. The Gardners snappy dialogue, the cat fight between Daphne and Arlena, the costumes, the music, just everything. But the one thing that always stands out in my memory is Nicholas Clay and that black bathing suit. I see quite a few others here agree with me.

reply

the front of the bathing suit looks quite full as well :-)

I also saw Nicholas Clay in the SHERLOCK HOLMES (with Jeremy Brett) episode "The Resident Patient." And I can say this: Nicholas Clay looked great even when fully clothed, in a Victorian-style suit.

Clay also appeared in the Ian Richardson HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES as Jack Stapleton. His role in the story wound up enlarged near the climax, as they added some extra action scenes to make it a more exciting finale.

It seems like the director of 'Evil Under the Sun' deliberately focused on Nicholas's ass with his camera as much as he could.

He looks gorgeous in this film. He looks very nice in boats; when he is in the speedboat with Mrs Gardner and especially when he is rowing Arlena around the island - the look on his face when she says he must be getting tired of all the rowing ;)

I thought I was the only one who noticed how fine this man was. I watched Excalibur many times because of him.
