what did you guys think about the costumes?

I really like the ingenuity of this film - the solution is very clever - and some of the costumes were spot-on accurate and exquisite, like the dress Arlena wears when singing "You're the top" and that suit Christine wears at the end.
However, did anyone find some of the costumes a tad bit '80's? Like Maggie Smith's polka dotted jackets - some of them looked like she had shoulder pads.
And she wore pants the whole time. Also I found Myra Gardener's outfits were a bit ugly, especially the matching bathing suit and hat she wore when Patrick discovers Arlena (actually Christine) dead.
I think the outfits in "Death on the Nile" were on the whole much more appealing and true to the time. Don't get me wrong, I really like this film, but does anyone at least slightly agree?

I suppose the costume designer did exaggarate a bit, especially with Myra Gardener's costumes, but I think it fits quite well with the music. And a woman wearing pants wasn't that unusual even in the 30s. But I agree that those shoulder pads were somewhat ominous and from the 80s!

Myra's outfits are absolutely amazingly spectacularly hideous, and I love them! And yes, the polka dot outfit seems a litte 80s, but hey, it's the only one I'd say, and what do I know? I survived the 80s but not the 40s, so perhaps it was spot-on.

Hated that eighties look.
