This is a terrific film! Reeve out acts Caine!

This is an excellent film that is woefully under looked. Reeve and Caine are terrific on screen, with Reeve looking his best, right in the middle of his early Superman films. The twists in the film are exciting and because the film is set in the one place (mostly) the film hasn't aged a bit!

An interesting bit of trivia is that when the horror films were being banned in Britain in the early eighties, Deathtrap got pulled of the shelves too, as people confused it with Death Trap aka 'eaten alive', and so original big box videos of Deathtrap are quite rare.

Anyone else love this film.

PS

When the hell is it going to be released on region 2 DVD for us Brits ?

You're a Brit? that's cool.

it wasn't really that terrific but I love the movie nonetheless, but the elements involved showed great potential. like director sidney lumet, screenwriter jay presson allen, and of course legendary screen actors Michael caine and christopher reeve. AWESOME MOVIE!!!!! It's a shame it had to fall thru the cracks like it did.

Christopher Reeve did look great in this film and also delivered one of his best performances as well.

Terrific performances by Reeve, Caine, and Cannon, had me guessing all the way through! Couldn't believe how creeped out I was all the way until the end, I think it was one of Reeve's finest performances ever.

Yep, it's a real shame that Reeve didn't get the opportunity to stretch himself like this more often.

No kidding. I think in many ways, the "Superman" role was a curse for Chris. He was seen as a superhero and not an actor, which is a shame because he was excellent here. And by all accounts, he was a tremendous person. The world could use more Christopher Reeves today.

reply

Yep. In "Street Smart" he's also terrific playing a different type of part, too.

Somehow "Street Smart" slipped past my radar. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

No problem, hope you enjoy it!

Hey Dave, again I "found" you on a random message board! I just saw this for the first time (bought a used copy for $1.95!) and thought it was very enjoyable. I also really liked Dyan Cannon in this, she didn't deserve her Razzie nod!

And Christopher Reeve wasn't a bad actor at all, although his big heart is the reason why I loved and love him the most. I miss him so.

Congrats Al - you got a great bargain, there!

Indeed; Reeve's is a loss that is still heavily felt.
