any news on a widescreen Blu Ray release?
I'd love to see this film again but refuse to buy the pan-and-scan region one standard definition disc. Has anyone heard news of a Blu Ray?

shareA Blu ray release would indeed be superb, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of love for the film. Think I read some where that Caine isn't that keen on it either, which is a shame as it's an excellent example of substance over style, of which many movies these days seem to lack. Had enough trouble finding this on dvd, went region 1 in the end. I can't see a BR version unless there's a remake and therefore a cash in.

You can see it in HD via Netflix streaming. The picture looks quite good.
I think for titles like this with limited appeal, studios would rather send one HD file to a streaming service like Netflix, than go through the time and expense of putting it out on Blu-ray.
It's also available in 1080p widescreen in iTunes.
