I've always wondered if the victims who die (the Montellis, the real estate agent in part 3, Melanie of part 3, etc) actually become trapped souls who are tortured and kept hostage by the demons, or evil spirts trapped in the house, or go on to their rewards, albeit a bit early. What do you think?
shareI think that the devil and/or evil spirits or whatever evil is in the house attempts to corrupt and destroy the innocents of the residence and get them to damn themselves.

Grace, thank you for your answer. Every response was very good and got me thinking more about the people who died there in the three films. I also thought the final entry with Patty Duke, which was made for NBC, was extremely well made and added the final touch to the Amityville bloodbaths.
