Sonny a little too old to be living at home?

Looked like he was 24 or 25, Not in college. defiantly out of high school.

reply

And who decides what age is too old to be living at home??

reply

I hear ya, but seems to be a society thing...

reply

Exactly. There's no official age that someone has to move out. There are many reasons these days as to why they stay.
Besides, I figured Sonny was around 18 or so anyway.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

Some people really take the whole living at home thing way too serious,, Hollywood even has goofed on it with 2 movies about it recently, 1. failure to launch, and Jeff .. who still lives at home.. Luckily for the people who do still live at home these movies bombed..

But 'he's not too big for a whipping'. His dad reminded him of that. If my dad laid a finger on me (if he was anything like Anthony) after I had reached the age of adulthood, he would be one dead MF because it would be on.

reply

He was supposed to be high school age.

reply

that's on old looking high school kid, sonny looked like he was at least 32 years of age..

reply

That's usually how it goes on TV and in the movies. Stockard Channing was 34 and playing a high school girl in Grease.

I got the impression that this was meant to be loosely based around the DeFeo murders, which is what inspired the real Amityville stories.

Ronald DeFeo jr was actually living at home and was aged twenty-three at the time he committed the murders. This is supposed to sort of imitate that situation. Look at the similarities? Italian family, abusive father, weak mother, etc.

It fits.

I was at home at 30 taking care of my folks. This day and age, where jobs that pay decent are harder and harder to find yet standard cost of living prices skyrocket, who's to say what age is right to leave the nest?

reply

Your right. sadly, its really looked down on by society big time. I seen many people picked on and take abuse for this with no mercy what so ever. I think murders and thieves get more respect as long as they have their own place. I think people take it too far.

reply

Ron Defeo was in his early 20s at the time

reply

In real life the killer was 20 something living at home

reply

Ronnie was a stoner and was using drugs for a long period of time. Sonny on the other hand appeared to be a straight-laced, clean cut kid who was not involved with drugs other than smoking cigarettes. Ronnie Sr. Ruled the family with an iron fist just like Anthony did.

reply

I can't remember if they mention his actual age in the movie, but it wouldn't be the first time a teenager was played by an actor way too old

reply

All that I have heard about the Defeo family, Ronnie Jr. lived at home in his early 20s, and actually wanted to move out on his own, but senior wouldn't hear of it

reply

You're right, & I think he had a drinking problem, too. Probably a big part of why he was still living at home. Not sure if he had a job but I'd be shocked if he did.

reply

He did work, but it was at his grandfather's Buick dealership in Brooklyn. I don't think he really did anything, he was just on their payroll...in fact, the old footage of him being escorted to jail following the murders, he was in his work coveralls.

reply

Probably not the kind of free tv advertising the family business would have appreciated!
That's so interesting, though. Imagine being the extended family, like the grandparents. What a tragedy all around.
