Question about ending (with SPOILER)

Hi all, did I infer correctly that after Sonny was exorcised, the evil spirit went into the priest? That's what I thought because his blood vessels started doing that pulsating thing that they had done in Sonny when he was possessed. But if my assumption is correct, and this movie was the prequel to the Amityville from 1979 with Margot Kidder and that Brolin guy, what happened between this movie and that one? There was no possessed priest at the start of the 1979 Amityville.

HI

Well, I look at it as a prequel and loosly based on what happened to the DeFeo family. It was juiced up because there really wasn't any story except that the DeFeo's died in their sleep at the hands of their eldest son and that the family was semi dysfuntional.

However, it could be that the priest just got absorbed by the house. Maybe you could connect it to how shady the younger priest was behaving when he refused to speak with the inspector. Perhaps he already knew of the priest that did the exorcism. That younger priest did look a bit scared to really say more than he had to when questioned about the house.

No, I think he just found that cop annoying, nothing more.

I think it's just a simple case of artistic license

My personal ideia was always that in the end, the priest seeing that he was now possessed, ended up killing himself with the gun the detective gave him, remember?... before the demon took complete hold of the priest. That was for me the most logical ending... loved this movie btw, for me it is the best of Amityville series.
