Sexual content?
The UK DVD of Smiley's People is rated 15 for "strong sex." I (who have not seen it yet) have been told that this is not accurate. Who is right?
shareIn episode 4, I think, Smiley goes to interview Claus Kretzschmar at Kretzschmar’s night club. Smiley is forced to wait for Kretzschmar in the club with a sex show on stage, lots of topless prostitutes around, etc. The scene goes on for quite a while and is every bit as awkward as you might expect. I suppose it’s not entirely accurate to say the scene has “strong sex.” More like “obviously bored performers enacting lifeless simulated sex to cheesy late-1970s heavy rock.”
Later, at the end of the interview, Kretzschmar asks Smiley what he thought of the show, and Smiley very tacfully replies “It was very…artistic.”
