The letter in Vladi's pocket

General Vladimir put a letter in his pocket before leaving for the rendezvous with Max. It was one of his proofs. Later, in episode 4, Claus produced a letter Vladi sent him. Would Vladi have posted it on the night he was killed, before meeting Max?

reply

I believe that the letter that Claus Kretzschmar is a photocopy, made by the General at the Free Baltic Library the day it arrived. The General made the copy and sent it along to Otto Leipzig, who left it with Kretzschmar, along with the rest of the blackmail material.

The letter that the General had with him was the original from Ostrakova, and was taken off his body by the men who killed him.

That makes sense, although it's obscure in the video. Le Carré wouldn't have missed a detail like that.

reply

Le Carre is credited as a screenwriter for this production.
