It wouldn't be cool if the remote got into a thief's hands. That would be an open invitation to rob the place.

Actually, I was thinking how lazy one must be have that kind of remote. I mean, how much trouble could it have been to simply walk to the door to open it????

Sometimes doors need to be opened remotely.

I live in a handicapped housing complex where we have these kind of door openers. Outside there is a keypad and everyone gets their own code to get inside, but, the button could be pushed from inside the house to let the people outside, in, without causing us trouble. They do help alot for those of us in wheelchairs who have trouble manuvering to easily open doors. I know that wasn't the case on the show, but, those type of doors are very good help to some of us, and they are very safe! I have a feeling they had it on the show, Because Edward was rich and "because they could."
