Anyone see "Rhoda"? You know Mallory's boyfriend who happens to be named Nick on FT? Then you see Nick Lobo, Brenda's sometime boyfriend on "Rhoda", and yes there are differences, but they way he talks and says "aay". You wonder whether he was based on him?
shareDoubt it.....Rhoda they were all 'adults' who did not bring home dates to their parents. They were living in their own apartments by then.
I think it's more a generalized satire of showing two 1960's 'countercultural' participants having to confront the numerous problems and contradictions they obviously had inside themselves when THEIR kids brought home a 1980's 'antiestablishment' type and wanted to date that 'rebel'.
Steven Keaton realized he was just as square as Elyse's dad and he did not like admitting that Mallory was his little girl.
