Columbus, Ohio?

When it first aired, I only occasionally was able to catch Family Ties on TV. Not too long ago, I kind of rediscovered the show on Antenna TV and was surprised to find out that it was supposed to have taken place in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. Living in a suburb of Columbus myself now, I was just wondering if it was ever mentioned which suburb the family lived in? Do we ever see the exterior of the house? The interior looks like it would be a pretty big house, and I'd guess it was maybe supposed to be like one of the big houses in Dublin or New Albany?

I had always just heard Columbus. I never knew it was a suburb. I suppose we could try to figure out where the WKS studios were. 

Sort of late to the game, but I always though it was in German Village in the city or someone else close to downtown with the older Victorian homes? (My husband is from Columbus)

The Keatons lived in Leland, OH. My best friend who lived in Columbus while this show on air during the 80's told that Leland, OH does not exist. In the episode when Alex goes after Ellen, he arrived in Lancaster, PA and asked the ticket agent if the train from Leland, OH arrived yet. Also Alex attended Leland University.

I remember that episode. Alex was looking for Ellen to apologize or tell her something.

I have been in the waiting room at the Lancaster, Pennsylvania train station, and so I remember be amused by how different the one in the episode looked from the real one.
