Why doesn't a School for the Performing Arts allow outside auditions?
Could have been filmed about 1940 - Judy Garland Mickey Rooney Freddie Bartholomew Deanna Durbin Jane.Withers among the pupils, Aline McMahon as Miss Sherwood, Joan Blondell as Miss Grant SZ Sakall as Shprofsky William Drmarest as Crandall.

If a student auditioned for something and scored a professional contract, he or she would leave the school, ending the tuition or scholarship funds the school was getting. Also, they probably don't think it's good for students to enter the professional world too early, before their training is complete.
