Why didn't Lori Singer return for the third season?
shareI presume to do Footloose (1984). It comes next in her filmography.
Always missed her in Fame's later seasons; the show could've used more musicians.

Wrote this in another thread, but I'll repeat here.
What happened was that Fame was cancelled by NBC. With that cancellation, everyone's contract was void. Then the show was picked up for syndication, MGM had to re-sign and re-negotiate everyone's contract. This loophole allowed Lori Singer to leave Fame and do "Footloose".
I honestly think she was ready to leave and do movies, but she had a contract. Once the contract was void, she could leave.
I agree...that when the show did get picked up for syndication I could imagine that Lori found other work and she was a free agent not to return for the third season.
