shareSince she wanted to leave (and the show was winding down) it was such a powerful way to write her out. Jesse Borrego was great in that episode.
shareYes Nia did want to leave the series ... and I recall talk that instead of the car accident claiming a 'guest star' charactor ... it would have more effect and shock value for a main star (that we were invested in) to be the victim.
I dont know thou that the show was aware 'it was winding down' thou ...
While I realise it was only 15 or so episodes late that the show ended for good (I think it was down to the wire/last moment before it was known if a 7th Season would be commissioned) ... I know (when the time came) Nia was desperate to appear in the finale
The writer/producer has since gone on record saying that he couldnt invision a way for her to appear, but realises now that she could have 'appeared' in dream to Jesse or something
Frankly I still say they should have just had her on the stage at the end of the episode singing a verse of 'Fame' with everyone else ... the fans would have lapped it up (and forgiven the fact that her charactor techinally shouldnt have been there with all the others)
