I was on another site and I'm not sure if this was someone getting a kick out of bashing Leroy or if this is true; but is the CHARACTER Leroy in the movie or series openly gay, or was this person on the other site making this up simply because he has knowledge of Gene Anthony Ray having been gay in real life? I thought Leroy and Lydia were the best dancers in the whole damn show to be honest.
shareLeroy Johnson was heterosexual in both the movie and series but Gene Anthony Ray was gay. Debbie Allen was and is still my all-time favorite dancer on the show. Loved Gene and Nia Peeples as dancers as well.
shareThanks! I finally saw the movie, and you're right. I think the person on the other site just used his/her knowledge of GAR being gay in real life to say his character Leroy was gay in the movie/series. It's always "easy" to "see" something when you know it's there. At any rate, GAR was a brilliant dancer. Too bad they didn't show more of that in the movie version. I liked the movie, but disappointed I didn't see enough GAR aka Leroy.
