I Liked Coco.

A couple years ago there was a thread about how a good number of people said they didn't like Erica Gimpe's portrayl of Coco. They felt she was annoying and unattractive. I have to agree that sometimes she was annoying, but that was a trait of the original movie character too. She was mainly just determined and would do anything to make it big. She was an accurate portrayl of a Performing Arts student, feeling she was No. 1 and unaffected by her hurt of others sometimes. And sometimes she put her own personality aside and show her concern others, for example the end of the "Your Song" episode with Jimmy Osmond's Troy character. And as for her looks, I agree in the first season sometimes she didn't look real good, but I felt that in Season 2 with her hair down, she was pretty. Even with that overbite she had, she was pretty with her hair down. Soemtimes I was annoyed, but I liked the character of Coco.

Guess some don't care to talk about Erica Gimpel as Coco.

When the show was initially on, I liked Erica as Coco, but the character was so pompous that she wasn't one of my favorites. Once the first two seasons were released on DVD, I became a huge fan of hers. By then, I had seen her in other roles ("North & South" and "Touched by an Angel" among them). She even ended up being one of my favorite singers on the show. She did play her a lot like Irene did in the movie.

i adored her when the show first aired and was highly disappointed when she left--to me, Coco IS fame...she sings the theme song!!!

Coco sort of defined the show, and it went downhill when she left. Erica is supremely talented and still going strong.
