How did it fit in with the movie?

Title says it all, the film ends with them graduating, how does the series fit in?

The series kind of overlooks the graduation in the film- using the characters LeRoy, Doris, Bruno, Coco, Montgomery, Ms. Sherwood, Ms. Grant, and Mr. Sherofsky.

Basicaly the series starts again from the begining, with some of the same characters (and some different ones).

In the first episode of the series Coco says something to Bruno about wasting last year. I think the series started with the sophmore year.

I was wondering about this - Doris (Landsburg) appears to be married in most of Series 1 of the TV series - when did she and Ralph marry in the the screenplay? Year 2 or Year 3?

In the film it is "Doris Finsecker", in the series it is "Doris Shwartz" it is not even supposed to be the same person.
