Albert Grand

Christine’s crush/fascination with him really irked me. Samuels had it too - a fascination with a celebrated jewel thief.

Grand was so refined and dignified when he was really only a despicable criminal who lived a jet setting life of luxury by stealing.

He was a sociopath, a charmer, a manipulator and one who bends the truth to fit his self serving agenda by claiming that the jewels he steals are insured and that’s what the insurance companies are there for. It was just like the scene in The Godfather when Michael is proposing to Kay and justifying his mob career by saying she’s the hypocrite by accepting a corrupt government.

I suppose it’s an interesting layer to the Christine character but I would have liked to have more closure on it than he was dying and that made her sad.

I always took those episodes more as lighter ones myself, using the old idea of the gentleman thief so popular in older detective fiction.
