Can anyone tell me which episode this is?

All I remember is that Mary Beth is very unhappy and takes off, I think she goes to the beach to be by herself, and this other woman keeps bothering her, but gradually they talk and by the end we realise the other woman had gone there to kill herself but doesn't (I think!).

Ring any bells for anyone? I remember really liking that episode.

I saw that one on my DVD the other night. Very moving; I really felt for poor Mary Beth. I laugh when Mary Beth is trying to get the other woman to leave her alone and Mary Beth sobs, I'm trying to have a nervous breakdown here! I wonder if maybe that woman was bi or gay and was secretly attracted to Mary Beth? Maybe that's why the woman hung on to Mary Beth like sticky honey. I loved that when the boss was giving Lacey a hard time, Chris stickes up for Lacey. Chris and Mary Beth are like sisters in so many ways.

I also laugh so hard at secular, brash, NON-virgin Chris in the white nun's habit; she looked soo, soo, funny! I could tell she felt really awkward and was uncomfortable; I could also tell that the habit made her itch all over and was hot for her and could see that the collar nearly choked her; re-see in the DVD how her hands kept going up to pull at the collar or scratch herself; she had to keep willing her hands down. Hilarious. I suspect her non-virgin body was rejecting the habit.

I can't believe I never saw your reply, and still never found that episode. But now I know what it is and I can't wait to watch it again. Thank you very much indeed.

I remeber an interview with Tyne Daly who said that at the time she was having a nervous breakdown in real life so maybe they could write it into the script! (I think she was joking!)

the interview is on youtube I think, she was talking to Terry Wogan.

Anyway, that episode was really memorable, as so many of them were. I just wish they'd carried on making them, I could watch it forever

ps. I was just watching a repeat of a Judging Amy episode where Amy has a sort of breakdown and goes of to the beach to be by herself and is bugged by someone and then goes home to her mum, Tyne Daly!

It will happen this way

It's interesting that you mention this episode because this is the episode that I was going to ask about. In fact I was beginning to think that it was a film Tyne Daly had been in and not an episode of C&L as it was so far from a typical episode.
