I always thought Mary Beth has one of the most beautiful faces I've ever seen in my life. I recently re-watched one of the re-union films and her face is just gorgeous. Anyone notice this?
I liked that hair; it was so, so beautiful. I love how dark it was. It was the type that looked good short or long. Mary Beth is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Even now with salt-and-pepper graying hair and now heavy, she's still a beauty.
I agree, Mary Beth was a beauty. Her fine cheekbones and sweet smile are evident at every age and yes, even with weight gain. (One of my favourite Tyne Daly film roles is when she appears with Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry.)
It surprises me that in several reviews the show Cagney and Lacey is described as being original for its "ordinary looking" female leads. They're not unattractive at all. They are beautiful in a realistic, non-Hollywood way. Dressed as real cops would dress, not in designer clothes but in practical working clothes, sensible haircuts for women who are doing a dangerous job, light make up which would often disappear under a coat of sweat after chasing a suspect.
Not very often we see female cops portrayed that way nowadays. In fact, if anyone can give me an example, I'd love to know who she is.
I agree. I've always thought Tyne Daly was a natural beauty without the Hollywood artifice. She has one of those smiles that lights up a whole scene.
During the original run of the series one magazine article said that Cagney and Lacey employed an unusual twist. The "plain" woman was happily married and the good looking one was single. I could only think "Huh?"
Both Tyne Daly and her real life brother are attractive. I used to think that Tyne Daly's odd smile in Cagney & Lacey where she crinkles the bridge of her nose was cute. I don't know if that was an actor's method to express a certain type of emotion though. Does anyone know if Tyne Daly smiles like that naturally in real life?
And, Tim Daly I really felt attracted towards, thinking that his face was so perfectly chiseled that he had a pristine look. Very handsome man.
But, all those sentiments only speak towards the superficial side of the real person. Don't you wonder what it'd be like to have a conversation with either of them and in the process learning what their personality and character is like?
I'd love, love to have a real conversation with Mary Beth Lacey; she has an interesting, sharp mind. So does Chris; I'd love to have a good conversation with her also. I'd LOVE to go to dinner with the two of them.
I really don't know much about the actresses who play them; is Tyne as nice and as intelligent as Mary Beth?
I met her last week after the same play (thanks to CalendarGirl who had said on the Tyne Daly board how approachable she is, otherwise I would have been too nervous!) and her smile could light up London! she is so beautiful, I think because her beauty is so natural, she always will be. She was also very slim and much smaller than I expected, about my dap. I always thought she was tall for some reason.
I hope Tyne isn't too slim now; she needs a bit of plumpness on her...I always liked that in the re-union films, Mary Beth was plump. I always imagined Mary Beth growing really chubby in her old age.
well she was on Loose Women and she said she has lost 60lb! she looked about a uk size 12 to me. I think she looked amazing (but I think she looks amazing with or without the weight)
You're talking about Tyne Daly...but how true...really lovely women, that Mary Beth and Tyne. I even think Mary Beth is a bit prettier than Tyne as they've grown older. I like the plumpness on Mary Beth Lacey; it just makes her all the more real.
