Re-watched *Burn Out* and noticed...

I was re-watching Burn Out on DVD this past weekend and I get the feeling from watching the interactions between Mary Beth and the woman on the beach, Maggie that Maggie had a crush on Mary Beth, which may have been why Maggie kept sitting so close to Mary Beth and drew that picture of her.

I wonder if Mary Beth sensed it and was uncomfortable with it hence her initially nervous, explosive reaction to Maggie.

I liked the interactions between them; I really do think Maggie was attracted to Mary Beth.

Anyone else notice this?

I read your post so I decided to watch the episode because I didn't remember it. I rented the dvd from the library.

I didn't get the feeling that Maggie had a crush on Mary Beth. It just appeared to me that she was a bit lonely and wanted to talk. But Mary Beth wanted to be alone. "I'm trying to have a nervous breakdown here!"

Mary Beth was so stressed and needing some time alone that I doubt she would've noticed if Robert Redford sat down next to her. lol She really just wanted to be left in peace to sort out her own feelings. I doubt that she was aware of what Maggie was feeling towards her, that is if Maggie was feeling anything.

Some times when you move away from a person, you really just want to be alone. Anyway, that's the impression I had about those scenes.

Probably at first with Maggie...but I think Maggie developed a crush. True, Mary Beth was too stressed and probably would have even pleaded with Robert Redford to back off.

Maybe at first in her initial weeping phases, Mary Beth didn't realize Maggie's crush, but I think later on, she got the feeling Maggie was crushing on her and it made her a bit nervous and embarrassed.

Yeah, no crush. Wishful thinking on your part.

Obviously the woman was always at this beach and never saw Mary Beth before and noticed that Mary Beth was acting erratic and was concerned about her, maybe thinking she was going to commit suicide.

The best line ever out of Mary Beth's mouth, "I'm trying to have a nervous breakdown here!!!!" The woman obviously knew it and was trying to annnoy her to keep her head "above the water" and not let her fall into her breakdown. Mary Beth was perfectly willing to fall into the breakdown and the woman prevented it.

that's all it was.

I don't think she had a crush on MB, and I also don't think she was trying to prevent MB's breakdown. If anything, I think Maggie was oblivious to it. She seemed a happy-go-lucky type who was friendly with everyone (and trying to sell her sketches), but MB wasn't receptive to her.

I've always wondered if the music that Maggie gives MB in this episode is the same music MB played in the hospital when she had surgery for breast cancer.
