Marketed as the first horror comedy?

Or was that with the DVD release?

Either way, I think that title goes to The Invisble Man.

I hear his theme music, he's around here somewhere...

There's a movie in the 70s called "Schlock" that is also a horror / comedy so I think this is wrong claiming to be the first.

Not "first" by at least 40 years.

The Ghost Breakers (1940) (Bob Hope, zombies)
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
etc, etc

They might have had a better case for "first slasher comedy".
Seems to just beat Wacko (1982).

Well, I did mention The Invisible Man in my post, which predates The Ghost Breakers by 7 years. But we're on the same page; no chance in hell is this the first horror comedy.

Sad story. You got a smoke?

I'm gonna flex my knowledge on you boys here.

The Invisible Man (1933) is close... but not correct. James Whale made a film the year prior, The Old Dark House (1932), that is the oldest horror comedy I'm aware of.

If any were released prior I'd be surprised as we'd be venturing into silent film status and I can't think of a single horror comedy silent film.
