Is the extended cut worth it?
I thought the original theatrical version was OK, a few funny moments but it was no Caddyshack, is my opinion likely to improve if I see the extended version?

shareFrankly no. Part of the extended version has the girls Harold Ramis and Bill Murray got with showing off their boobs. But it doesn't really add much.
shareSo then there aren’t any funny jokes added in?
Also something that always puzzled me was the sergeant punishes the platoon because Murray and Ramis apparently snuck out the night before yet that scene comes right the heck out of nowhere and we never saw them sneak out, does the extended cut explain this?
Well I'm watching the extended edition for the first time and I'm about 20 minutes in and I can say there is at least one funny joke added in, Murray convinces Ramis to join the Army and says we can take your car down there right now, and Ramis says "we'd have to wouldn't we?"
shareNothing worthwhile unless you want to see a boob shot for a few seconds. I didn't think the extra scenes were anything special.
sharethere were two funny moments inserted: the one I previously mentioned and when Hulka tells Murray and Ramis you have to watch the EM 50 all night, everyone else you get the weekend off!!! I don’t have a military reason for picking you, I just don’t like you. And he says it with that smug grin on his face. The rest of the extended scenes haven’t offended me or anything so as of now I’m sticking with the extended , although I do concede the sex scene in Germany was just gratuitous , it almost felt pornographic and I don’t think the movie needed it. But there were funny jokes in the extended so for that it’s worth it IMO
sharei do wish the scene where Stillman gave false information about what happened to Sgt. Hulka was included in the theatrical version
shareYeah that was pretty good but Sgt Hulka telling Murray and Ramis they had to watch the EM50 while everyone else got the weekend off was the funniest extended scene , the only gripe I have with it is for about two minutes the movie turns into a soft core porno and it served no purpose nor was it funny, it was just sex for the hell of it.
