The current issue of St. Helens is censored. The first time I rented it in 1981, the language was a bit different. For example, Kilpatrick didn't call Otis a "sonofabuck" in the original. I have purchased several copies of this movie and they are all the same censored version. Does anybody know where I can get a copy of the uncensored original version?
Censored is probably the wrong description. I meant to say the sound track of this edition is garbled in places. The sound track was clear in the first release that I rented in 1982. The next time I rented it, the sound was garbled, beginning with the music at the beginning of the movie. Another place the sound is smeared is Kilpatrick's response to Otis in the tavern. You can't understand what he says just before he walks away. Does anyone know where I can get a copy with a clear soundtrack? If so, please contact me at [email protected].
I can burn you a copy of the copy of the movie that I have. As far as I know, and I just watched it this morning, it is perfectly fine. I think some of the edits are rough, but the sound seems OK to me. Let me know. I'll gladly burn a copy and send it to you.
Thank you. I appreciate your offer to burn me a copy. I already have a couple of copies with the edits. The first time I saw this movie in 1982 there were no edits. The next time I rented it, it had edits. Maybe the language was too rough for 1982 and it had to be censored and re-issued. Since then, I have tried to find the uncensored non-edited version with no success. Thank you just the same.
I just purchased a copy on eBay that has the original title, but its not the original unedited version. I guess that the original is nowhere to be found.
